  • A collaborative structure where portfolio managers and analysts are idea generators, and the trading and implementation group is embedded within the investment team.
  • The investment team’s core has been investing together for more than 14 years.
  • The investment team is located in Boston.

Investment Process

The team applies deep fundamental research and robust operational capabilities across a broad opportunity set in order to uncover knowledge gaps across global markets. By exploiting knowledge gaps, the team is well positioned to discover idiosyncratic opportunities that provide compelling risk-adjusted long-term return potential.

Organizational Structure

The team has a flat and collaborative structure where portfolio managers and analysts share the day-to-day responsibility of idea generation. Trading and implementation are embedded with the investment team, as trading capabilities and infrastructure are considered important components of the investment process.

Idea Generation Through Broad Investment Universe

The team constantly performs fundamental country research and monitors financial markets through various sources. When an opportunity is identified, the team performs deeper analysis. Country research looks at a full spectrum of influences to understand its past and present policy environment and how an important policy moment may alter the investment environment. The team integrates environmental, social and governance (ESG) analysis at the country and corporate levels.

The team’s opportunity set includes a broad spectrum of global markets with investable assets from more than 100 countries across asset classes.

Portfolio Implementation

The team studies investment opportunities from a risk factor perspective—the forces that drive securities and instruments prices. Once the preferred risk factor is determined, the team works with trading and implementation to consider which instruments provide the optimal risk-adjusted return.

The trading and implementation group’s repeated efforts to understand and overcome investment barriers has helped deliver the broadest investment universe and build valuable institutional knowledge which has become a competitive advantage for the investment team.
